About KuCoin

KuCoin is a centralized cryptocurrency exchange founded in 2017 in China, later relocating to Singapore and subsequently to Seychelles, where it is currently registered and headquartered[3][5][10]. It serves over 40 million users across 200+ countries and offers approximately 885–1,115 listed coins and 1,073–1,312 trading pairs as of mid-2026[3][4][5][6][8]. Base spot trading fees are 0.1% for both maker and taker, with a 20% discount (effective 0.08%) when paying fees in KCS, the native token[1][2][5][6][11]. Futures perpetual trading base fees are 0.02% for makers and 0.06% for takers, with VIP tiers reducing these further[1][2][4][5][11]. Key features include staking, lending, margin trading, P2P fiat trading, copy trading, trading bots, a launchpad (KuCoin Spark), and daily KCS bonus payouts[2][4][5][6][9]. The platform is withdrawal-only for U.S. residents since January 2025 following a $297M DOJ and $500K CFTC settlement, with trading barred for at least two years from January 2025[4][6].

Best for early altcoin listings

KuCoin is my go-to for altcoins that are not listed on Binance yet. They list tokens early which is a double-edged sword — you get access before the pump but some of them turn out to be garbage. DYOR obviously. Spot fees are low (0.1%), the trading bot feature is actually fun to play with — made some profit on the grid bot during sideways markets. Withdrawal fees vary by token, some are reasonable some are extortionate (looking at you ERC-20 USDT). The KYC-less trading up to 1 BTC per day is nice if you value privacy. Biggest downside: customer support is slow, took 3 days to resolve a deposit issue. Not your first exchange but a solid secondary one.
